AR effects for Television

The media industry is adjusting to new technologies, this is also the case for television. The programs are starting to include more “new” technologies and these enhance the storytelling capabilities. Especially AR is very strong in adding information without breaking the sleek design of most television programs.

Extreme E

Summary:
Extreme E contained multiple different AR effects that were made by me and an collague. These were created within custom made software and interacted with live data.
This created a more narrative to show the viewers at home.

A clear advantage of this were things like the AR track layout.
Most of the time the races were at remote locations including the desert.
Giving visual information how the track
These effects were used in season 1 and season 2 after we completed them.

The Connection

Summary:
An AR addon to a quiz tv program. The words needed to be able to be loaded in every episode and the whole system needed to be correctly linked together to let the show work.
I really think that the AR enhanced the visual storytelling of this show. Making the collected words and puzzle pieces more interactive for the viewers at home.

Just like Extreme E it is a great way to provide more information to the viewers without the risk of looking like a spreadsheet.

UVNL

Summary:
UVNL needed to adept there videos to the Corona pandemic. Normally one of their asthetics was that the talks were giving in colleges or auditoriums. However with the lockdown rules this wasn’t allowed anymore. We (NEP) helped them with a fully digital solution, an AR studio! Next to the studio being in AR we also created multiple interactions that enhanced the storytelling of the speakers.

Screens and other objects that could be placed or moved according to the best fit for the talk.
UVNL was one of the kindest companies that I have had the pleasure to work with.
